Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
If you’re ready to remove areas of unwanted body fat, you’ve heard about the benefits of SmartLipo as an alternative to traditional liposuction. Although you’re excited to get the results you want using the laser-assisted procedure, you’re sure to have plenty of questions before you’re ready to commit to it. We take the time to address your concerns to give you the peace of mind you need to feel confident about your treatment. In the meantime, here are the answers to a few of the most common questions patients have about the procedure.
How Does SmartLipo Work?
SmartLipo is one of the latest fat reduction treatments. A small incision is made to insert a tiny tube that contains a laser fiber. The fiber delivers thermal energy to target fat cells. The cells are essentially melted, allowing them to be removed using gentle suction.
When compared to other fat reduction methods, you’ll enjoy immediate results because fat is actually removed. The tissues around the treatment area also tighten through coagulation to create an overall smoother shape.
Am I a Candidate for SmartLipo?
SmartLipo is not a weight loss procedure. It is recommended for people who maintain a healthy lifestyle but need help removing fat from specific areas despite diet and exercise. It can be used to treat several areas, including:
- Face
- Neck and jawline
- Abdomen, hips, and flanks
- Buttocks
- Inner and outer thighs
- Knees and ankles
- Back
It is best for people who don’t smoke and are in overall good health. Dr. Casad will perform a thorough consultation to ensure SmartLipo is the right choice for you.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The number of sessions needed varies depending on the treatment areas and the results you want to achieve; however, most patients one need 1. Often, patients will see results immediately, which will continue to improve over the next 3 to 6 months.
What Can I Expect After the Treatment?
SmartLipo is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional liposuction. Generally, you’ll only need local anesthesia during your procedure. Although you may feel well enough to resume your normal activities the same day, you’ll need to rest for about a week. It’s best to wear a compression garment for 3 to 4 weeks while your body heals.
It’s common to see some bruising, and you can expect there to be slight asymmetry and dimpling, but they will subside within a few days. Most patients can go back to work in about 1 week, and you can head back to the gym within 1 month. You may have a very small scar at the incision site, but it will be barely noticeable.
How Long Will My Results Last?
SmartLipo is a revolutionary treatment that destroys fat cells, so your results can be permanent. To keep unwanted body fat at bay, it’s best to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly.
